Starfield has had a pretty solid launch, all things considered. Critically speaking, although the game wasn’t heralded as the best sci-fi epic of all time, Bethesda has undoubtedly made one of the most interesting video game universes in recent history. But even with all that, it seems Starfield has encountered a wave of review bombs from the masses, and it isn’t pretty. The excitement and anticipation for Starfield were immense. And while a segment of players feels that the game has matched their expectations, others don’t agree.

It’s drawing comparisons to previous Bethesda games that have achieved legendary status, such as Skyrim. The vast majority of players who played Starfield to the end had positive things to say about it. A good example of this is the Steam reviews, which give it a fairly positive rating. Starfield reached over a million concurrent players, according to none other than Phil Spencer.

Starfield Review Bombings Are Not Slowing Down

The audience rating for Starfield on Metacritic has tanked far below the critics’ score. With most users giving it a 0 or a 1 out of 10. The reasons for this range all the way from Xbox exclusivity to subpar performance on PC. But all things considered, such a low score is definitely an exaggeration or a result of insurmountable initial expectations.

Starfield has received around 1400 positive reviews, 300 average ratings, and a whopping 12,000 negative reviews on the PC version. This has resulted in its overall rating of 5.4 (at the time of writing) which doesn’t at all seem fair when taking into account the scope of the game alone. And it doesn’t seem like the review bombing on Starfield is going to slow down.

If you want to give Starfield a shot and are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, and enjoy games like Starfield, go for it. Even with all the doubts, it is objectively a good game. Starfield is available on Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
