No Man’s Sky has faced some controversy over the last few days. Possible last second delays, no early review copies, stores breaking street dates – the hype for the game is definitely testing Hello Games, the indie studio creating it. The Steam page for the PC version has long had August 9th listed as the release date, but the No Man’s Sky page has had August 12th listed. Finally, Hello Games has announced that the PC version will indeed be releasing three days later on August 9th.

PC NMS release will now be global and will be August 12th worldwide. It’s so important we get it right and make the best version we can

— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) August 5, 2016

Sean Murray, the lead developer for Hello Games, announced that No Man’s Sky will be a global PC launch, as opposed to the PS4 version being released in different regions on different days. Even though the game releases in just a few days, Hello Games has been working hard to grind out updates and features to be added into the game. Murray even stated that he was in the office trying to add 21:9 widescreen support to the PC version of No Man’s Sky. Unfortunately, the studio does not own a 21:9 monitor, so the team had to stick cardboard to the edges of a screen to make due. Just a simple reminder that this is a small studio dealing with one of the biggest games of the year.

No Man’s Sky already has quite a bit of leaked content out there due to street dates being broken and the lack of review copies leading to nervous websites. Do you think it can possibly live up to the hype that is surrounding it? Or is No Man’s Sky destined to be the next Spore? Let us know in the comments below.
