The task of remaking Alex Proyasโ cult classic The Crow has been absolutely nightmarish. Several directors have come on and off the project, bringing actors with them. Over time, weโve had Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Houston, and several others vying for the role of Eric Draven. In fact, when Houston recently dropped out it seemed like the death nail for The Hallow director Corin Hardyโs run on the project. However, Hardy seems to have found a new man willing to slap on the makeup.
None other than Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa.

Seemingly confirming his involvement on Instagram, Momoa seems very excited about stepping into the role. Enthusiasm is certainly needed, as the late Brandon Leeโs shoes are going to be tough to fill. To me, the actors that have been previously cast have seemed like derivative choices. Sure, they wouldnโt do a bad job, but my impression is that they would simply copy what Lee did. Momoa however, is another story.
Leeโs Crow was a gaunt, skinny fellow. Lee used his lanky body like an instrument, appearing almost feminine until he dished out punishment. Momoa, who still could definitely pull off the gothic look, is quite the opposite. His imposing presence means that weโre likely going to get a much more physical Crow this time around. While Momoa hasnโt really proven himself as a dramatic talent yet, that doesnโt really matter. His screen presence alone will be enough to sell this role.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Momoa manages to juggle this and Aquaman. He will likely have to fit this in between Justice League and his solo outing. This means that this production may have to kick into overdriveโฆ finally.
The Crow is coming โ eventually. Donโt hold your breath for a release date. Weโve been hurt before.
