With regards to VR, Ubisoft’s new Nosulus Rift is pushing back the boundaries of the field.ย  The device in question is being released for the purpose of enhancing ‘South Park: Fractured but Whole’. South Park’s gaming cred is surprisingly solid with the impressively polished ‘Stick of Truth’ under their belt. Stick of Truth is an RPG that surprised everyone by being well put together under the unusual South Park Humor.

As a result, the inclusion of VR in the sequel is a very exciting development. But what is the Nolsulus Rift and what does it bring to the table?

It…it lets you smell farts.

Okay, so ‘Nosulus Rift’ is clearly not an actual product but farting is a major gameplay mechanic in the game. ‘Fractured but Whole’ is about the continuing adventures of the previous game’s hero. Unfortunately, the kids of South Park are into superheroes now; so he must ditch LARPing and start from scratch. In a plot that spoofs Captain America: Civil War, the protagonist must become a superhero and pick a side.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are keen to improve on Stick of Truth’s solid but uninventive combat. Above all, this means adding more importance to the protagonist’s farting prowess. In other words, his farts can now warp space and time;

This means that players can use farts to gain extra turns, amongst other things. The combat system remains turn-basedย but adds new tactical elements. These include combination attacks with your party members and changing your position on the field. This opens up new tactical possibilities to take advantage of.

So while the Nosulus Rift isn’t likely to hit stores anytime soon, Fractured But Whole will. South Park’s latest offering is due to release December 6th for PS4 Xbox One and PC. It comes bundled with Stick of Truth as well.
