If you are a Soulslike veteran, then you know the frustrating feeling of equipping a new item and starting slow rolling. Lies of P has its own take on a weight system, which we have explained to go into the details you need to understand. No matter your build, you will need to keep an eye on your weight distribution to ensure you are not too heavy. It might be a little more forgiving than any FromSoftware game, but you still need to know what you are doing.

If you have never played a Soulslike, then the basic way to explain weight is that it affects your character’s speed. Most notably, it slows your dodge and makes it ineffective. In Lies of P, the weight makes everything slower: attacking, sprinting, dodging, and stamina recovery. What affects it is what you have equipped, not what is in your inventory.

Unlike Dark Souls, you have wiggle room when carrying a weapon that is too heavy. When looking at your character’s equipment, the top right corner will have your weight percentage with a short descriptor of where you are if you have too much equipment. Below, you can see the different levels of weight:

  • Regular: From 0% to 59%
  • Slightly Heavy: From 60% to 79%
  • Heavy: From 80% to 99%
  • Very Heavy: 100%+

Increasing Your Weight

Learning the vocabulary of any Soulslike, especially Lies of P, requires it to be explained as stats that affect various aspects, like weight, are how you balance everything out. Capacity is what you will want to pour point into when speaking with Sophia to level up in Hotel Krat.

Some items can assist Capacity. As you play, you will uncover items or be able to purchase them. Amulets give you a bonus to stats. You will want to look for the Carrier’s Amulet to increase your weight limit in Lies of P. You can find this Amulet after Venigni Works Control Room.

The other choice you have is picking the right class at the beginning of the game when you wake up in that train cart. Path of the Sweeper is the Strength build. The stats differ, but the most important aspect for our purposes is its 11 Capacity. From there, you can level up and change your weapon to play how you want while still having that Capacity of the Sweeper.
