This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The legendary Raikou makes its way to Pokemon Go alongside Suicune and Entei. This gives players a chance to add these legendary dogs to their roster, thus helping complete their Pokedex in the process. If you’re looking to add this electric-type Pokemon to your roster, then you’re in for quite the challenge. Keep reading for all Raikou counters, weaknesses, movesets and whether you can find Raikou shiny in Pokemon Go below.

How To Get Raikou In Pokemon Go

To actually obtain Raikou, you’re going to need to defeat its 5-Star Raid and then catch it in its defeat. The raid is pretty difficult, but not impossible if you arrive to it prepared. It’s important to remember that Raikou is a single-type Pokemon, meaning that it only has one weakness as well. We wrote out all of Raikou’s counters and weaknesses below as well.

All Raikou Counters and Weaknesses

As we mentioned above, Raikou is an electric-type Pokemon, meaning that it is only weak to Ground-type attacks. You’ll want to arm yourself with a strong Ground-type Pokemon as well as with either of the following counters that we feel are best for this raid specifically:

  • Shadow Golem
    • Mud-Slap and Earthquake
  • Shadow Mamoswine
    • Mud-Slap and High Horsepower
  • Primal Groudon
    • Mud Shot and Earthquake
  • Escadrill
    • Mud-Slap and Drill Run
  • Shadow Garchomp
    • Mud Shot and Earth Power

All Raikou Movesets

The following are all of Raikou’s movesets in Pokemon Go:

  • Fast Moves
    • Thunder Shock
    • Volt Switch
  • Charged Moves
    • Shadow Ball
    • Thunderbolt
    • Wild Charge

With these in mind, you can probably made a good plan of action when it comes to which Pokemon you bring to this raid.

Can Raikou Be Shiny In Pokemon Go?

Yes, you can find a shiny Raikou in Pokemon Go. Unfortunately, the odds of being able to find one are a 1 in 20 chance or a 5% chance over all. You’ll probably have to test your luck in a few raids before being able to catch one for yourself. As we mentioned, its a pretty difficult raid, so as long as you take everything we wrote above and bookmark it to refer back to every time you do it, you should be able to catch a shiny one in no time.Of course, you might just want to settle for a regular one, though in case your chances run out by the end of the raid.
