This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Payday 3 hit the ground running when it launched a little over a week ago, and along with updating Payday 2, Starbreeze Studios has stayed on top of both heist shooters. Although, like any newly released game, Payday 3 encountered a few hiccups that players were quick to report. But the devs have confirmed that they’re working on everything the players have pointed out, and have already fixed the game’s matchmaking issues. But the biggest news must be Payday 3 crossing 3 million unique players on all platforms and the future roadmap.

To achieve this, Starbreeze Studios has updated the matchmaking software, as well as the actual infrastructure with additional regional nodes. This should help make the online experience a lot more consistent and make finding matches comparatively quicker. And that isn’t all that the devs have in store for fans, as they have also revealed the roadmap for Payday 3 for 2023. You can see the list of upcoming updates before the end of this year below.

Payday 3 Future Plans In The 2023 Roadmap

  • October – 200+ QoL improvements for all platforms
  • Oct/Nov – QoL improvements, new content, and new functionality
  • November – QoL improvements, new content, and new functionality
  • Winter 2023 – The DLC “Syntax Error” on sale (included in Silver and Gold Edition

These updates aren’t very detailed, and players should expect more platform-specific updates not mentioned here. The CEO of Starbreeze Studios, Tobias Sjögren, said:

First and foremost, I would like to thank our players for the patience they have shown us. Our community is the engine that drives both our games and our company forward. I don’t really need to repeat that this was not the start we wanted, but at the same time, our business model is a marathon and not a sprint and we will tirelessly continue to build PAYDAY 3 bigger and better to deliver the greatest possible value for our players.

Starbreeze Payday 3 Update

Starbreeze confirmed that Payday 3 hit 3 million unique players. And on PC, the game hit a maximum of 124,000 concurrent players. But this doesn’t include players on Xbox. And since Payday 3 is also available on Game Pass, that is likely where the bulk of the player base is.
