The recently announced Pokemon Generations has received its first two episodes on YouTube.

The first, titled ‘The Adventure,’ stars the classic Pokemon Trainer Red and his Pikachu as they venture through all six regions, fighting Pokemon and encountering a plethora of legendary creatures. The second is called ‘The Chase’ and follows a detective and police force as they track down the Team Rocket Leader Giovanni to the Viridian City Gym.

There are still plenty of stories to tell in Pokemon Generations.
There are still plenty of stories to tell in Pokemon Generations.

Both run for roughly four minutes, telling quick, succinct stories that flesh out previously unexplored corners of the Pokemon universe. The animation style is very similar to that of 2013’s Pokemon Origins, building off some of the stories told in that series. That is to say, the animation beautifully captures the world and the way Pokemon battle, leaping across the screen, unleashing devastating attacks, and causing plenty of clouds of dramatic smoke.

Pokemon Generations is an 18-part series of short stories, each telling its own story from a point of view that we haven’t seen before. The trailer teases a short that presents the entirety of the original games from the perspective of Blue, your rival who is always one step ahead of you.

The show presents a stylized look back at previous generations of the beloved franchise as we near the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, kicking off the series’ seventh generation. Pokemon Sun and Moon will release on November 18, 2016, for Nintendo 3DS. So expect the episodes to trickle out until then.

We don’t know the rate at which episodes will be released but every short will be available to watch on YouTube. The Pokemon YouTube channel is also releasing the entirety of the Pokemon Origins series, so be sure to go and check that out as well if you haven’t.

Pokemon Generations is available now on Pokemon’s official YouTube channel.
