This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

The developers of FFXIV finally unveiled the Viper as the first of two new jobs coming to Dawntrail. We’ve all been speculating about the new jobs since we saw the first teaser for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion for FFXIV. If this is your first rodeo, you must know Yoshi-P and his team always split the details of upcoming expansions between all three Fan Festivals. Since we got the teaser during the one in Las Vegas, it was only expected to get more information in the one in London.

Viper Is the New Job Coming to FFXIV Dawntrail

Viper is a new job using Scouting gear, like Ninja, that will arrive during the Dawntrail expansion. This is the class we saw the Warrior of Light use during the first expansion’s teaser. According to the team, this job will use two blades that can be stuck together to make a twin blade.

We got to see a few details during the Fan Festival, including some of the skills and the iconic job outfit. We also learned this job has ties to the new area as it includes hunting techniques from previous members of the Golden City, the expansion’s new area.

The wait will be longer for those who want to see the whole kit for the Viper job in FFXIV, but it’s great we finally have information about the new class. Also, for those who want to know what you’ll need to unlock it, these are the requirements:

  • Level 80
  • Dawntrail Expansion

As you can see, it is the usual, and players won’t have to do many things to get it other than reach level 80 and buy the expansion.

What excites most players is that this is a Scouting job, which, as you know, the game only has one right now, which is the Ninja. It’s uncertain if the Viper will share some of its rotation or gimmicks, but we can’t wait to learn more about it during the Fan Festival in Japan.
