This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

As you explore the changing stages of Risk of Rain Returns, you’ll encounter a variety of monsters, often requiring different weapons or strategies to fight. However, if you use Artifact of Kin, your journey will become much more monotonous. When you use this artifact, only one type of enemy will appear on the map, which allow you to quickly learn their attack patterns and easily defeat anyone in your path. The Artifact of Kin will make unlocking some achievements and items in Risk of Rain Returns much easier, but you’ll need to find it first.

First, to unlock the Artifact of Kin in Risk of Rain Returns, you must go to the Dried Lake map and find a secret room behind a dilapidated wall. Inside the room, you must press three buttons almost simultaneously, after which you will unlock the desired artifact. All these steps are pretty simple to follow, but let’s look at them in more detail:

  • First, when you appear on the Dried Lake map, go to the lower right part of the map.
  • Climb a little higher and examine the cracked wall near the statue. Use your core ability to break through.

  • Entering the room, you will see three buttons in different corners. Your task is to make sure that all of them are pressed at the same time.
  • More precisely, after pressing the button (shoot or hit it), you have about 3 seconds before it deactivates.
  • We recommend choosing characters with long-range weapons, as this will buy you some time.

Once you meet all the requirements, the Artifact of Kin will appear on a pedestal at the bottom of the room, after which you can pick it up. As we said earlier, using Artifact of Kin causes only one type of enemy to appear on the map. This can make your gameplay a little easier by reducing the variability of enemy attacks. But on the other hand, you can fill the map with the most annoying enemies, which leads to your death.

To summarize, here’s how you can unlock the Artifact of Kin in Risk of Rain Returns:

  1. Go to the Dried Lake map.

  2. Go to the lower right corner of the map.

  3. Break the wall near the statue.

  4. Click on the three buttons in the secret room.
