McFarlane Toys surprisingly released two new DC variants this week. The first is for this week’s Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #21. Meanwhile, the second variant is for Wonder Woman #3. Both variants feature an action figure amid a DC setting like Metropolis. These special variants come as quite a surprise for DC fans, as McFarlane Toys announced them a day before their release. We’re not sure why they would keep the release such a secret, but it will surely get people excited for the coming issues.
McFarlane Toys Surprise Variants
These McFarlane Toys variants show off two action figures. For Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #21, a posable Superman is afloat amid Metropolis. For Wonder Woman #3, Wonder Woman herself is poised for battle with sword and shield in hand. McFarlane Toys took to their social media account to announce the variants and show off the covers.
This is not the first time McFarlane Toys has collaborated on some fun DC variant covers. Earlier this year, the toy company and DC announced a collaboration on several variants. They included issues of Detective Comics, Superman ’78, Batman, and more. Each variant features a toy version of a DC character, poised in action amid a comic-inspired backdrop.
Special Covers For Special Comics
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest comes from Mark Waid and Dan Mora. The series explores the world of Kingdom Come. Here, an older Justice League is co-existing with some superpowered metahumans. These metahumans are violent and erratic, everything that goes against the Justice League we all know and love.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman comes from Tom King and Daniel Sampere. The series follows Diana Prince’s journey to restore the reputation of the Amazons. However, she must also deal with the mysteries behind the Sovereign and the aptly named Lasso of Lies. Makes sense that McFarlane Toys would put a battle-ready Diana on their variant.
Both Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #21 and Wonder Woman #3 will release on 11/21.
