With the start of Winterfest 2023 in Fortnite, the long-missed Snowball Launcher is back in Chapter 5. While the new season’s weapons are already great in our opinion, the addition of the Snowball Launcher was the icing on the cake. We felt the lack of explosive weapons like Proximity Grenade Launchers or Rocket Launchers in Chapter 5, but now we have Snowball Launchers to take their place. Before you learn how to use the Snowball Launcher, it’s important to know where to find it.
Where To Find Snowball Launcher Fortnite
The Snowball Launcher will most likely remain in Fortnite Chapter 5 for the duration of Winterfest. Fortnite Winterfest 2023 will run from December 14, 2023, until January 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET. It’s a very high probability that Snowball Launcher will only be available during this time.
The Snowball Launcher is available in Fortnite Chapter 5 in Chests, Vaults, and as a floor loot. You can also purchase a Snowball Launcher for 600 Gold Bars from Holiday Boxy, an NPC added to the game for Winterfest. This NPC is located in the building between Fencing Fields and Pleasant Piazza.
If you want to use the Snowball Launcher and don’t want to take any chances, the Holiday Boxy NPC is your best bet. However, if you ask me, 600 Gold Bars is quite expensive.
How To Use Snowball Launcher in Fortnite
The Snowball Launcher is not like the Grenade Launcher in Fortnite OG, making it an indispensable explosive weapon. When you shoot with the normal Grenade Launcher, the bullets first fall to the ground like a bomb and then explode after a while. With the Snowball Launcher, however, the snowballs explode on impact, dealing AOE damage. The only drawback of the Snowball Launcher is that the snowballs are slow, but otherwise, it’s a great weapon.
When you fire this weapon, you have to shoot well in front of a target running sideways, as the snowballs fall at an accelerated and slow rate. If you shoot directly at the target, your snowballs will fall behind the enemy and you won’t be able to land your shots effectively.
Rockets are quite rare in the game, so loot every Ammo Box in the houses you enter, and don’t forget to loot the Ammo Boxes hidden under the stairs. If you’re playing with friends, you can also get Rockets that they don’t use.
