This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Aether Blade is one of the most powerful equipment you would ever unlock and have in the MW3 Zombies/MWZ mode. This lethal tool works just like the Throwing Knife, but it gets back to you, making it available for infinite usage. And to make things even more interesting, it bounces off the zombies and hits many with only one throw; similar effect to how the Wunderwaffe DG-2 wonder weapon works. The name gives us a clue on where to earn this powerful weapon: The Dark Aether realm itself.

To find the Aether Blade in MWZ, you need to enter the Aether Rift by completing its easter egg and challenges first. These challenges are for taking down four Big Game Bounty contract targets, and you’ll find the full guide on it in the link below.

So once you’ve unlocked the portal for going inside the Dark Aether, enter it with as many teammates as you can, and bring your most powerful weapons with you. This is the ultra-difficulty mode in MWZ, and the zombies here fight you like they have personal problems with you.

When you’re inside, check your tac map and find the places you see in the image below.

These are the locations for three contracts that are available in the Dark Aether. And they all work just like the normal ones you do in low, medium, or high-threat zones every match. Each of the three locations you see in the image above includes a Mr. Peaks bunny doll, which you can pick to start the missions.

With each mission you accomplish here in the Dark Aether, there’s a very high chance of finding Legendary and Ultra rarity level schematics. So you may unlock the Aethet Blade schematics in your first run doing contracts in the Dark Aether realm.

Now remember, once you’ve got a rare schematic, it’s best if you exfil and unlock that item as quickly as possible. The chances of being surrounded by zombies while reloading or helping a mate are so high in this area, and it’s completely worth it to save your lives exiting the match by any Aether portals you can find around the map.
