Marvel’s X-Men is officially getting a new era entitled X-Men: From the Ashes. This soft relaunch for the series is kicking off in July of 2024 after the ongoing Fall of X event ends. Currently, the mutants of Earth are embroiled in a ferocious battle with the anti-mutant organization Orchis. Since the devastating attack during this summer’s Hellfire Gala, the Krakoan Era has been in a rapid decline. While Marvel and co. are keeping mum on what exactly comes next for the mutants, we now know we won’t be waiting too long to find out.
Fall Of X
X-Men: From the Ashes will arrive after the current Fall of X arc. It represents a reboot of the Krakoan Era, which kicked off with Jonathan Hickman in 2019. Hickman brought the mutants of Earth together with the two-part event, House of X and Powers of X. This event completely changed the history of the X-Men and established a new place for mutants in the Marvel Universe. This allowed creators to really play around with the X-Men and the new world Hickman made for them.
While Hickman created this new era with a two-part event, Marvel is ending it with one as well. The Krakoan Era officially ends with Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X. Both series will follow the X-Men fighting the war against Orchis/the anti-mutant agenda across time. However, the X-Men are never down for long and will now rise from this war in July.
X-Men: From The Ashes
Marvel released a teaser for X-Men: From the Ashes on its social media accounts. The tease shows a simple black and white X-Men logo accompanied with the date of July 2024. It states,
“From the ashes…the X-Men titles are reborn! Following the end of the Krakoa era, new Marvel Comics X-Men ongoing titles launch in July 2024.”
What these new titles will look like is anyone’s guess. After all, we still need to find out how it all ends in the coming months. However, it is nice to know that the X-Men have a future, whatever it may look like.
