The Golden Scarab is one of the first items you should get as soon as you start playing as a new character in Elden Ring. This is because this Talisman allows you to get 20% more Rune from all the creatures you kill, making it much easier to level up and grind Runes. As great as it sounds, obtaining this item is not as simple as it seems, especially at the beginning of the game. Therefore, follow our walkthrough to find out how to get Golden Scarab in the Elden Ring easily and effectively.

As we have just mentioned, you should get this item as quickly as possible. Even if you don’t use it in your normal build, it is one of the items you will absolutely need while farming Runes. To get the Golden Scarab Talisman in Elden Ring, you must go to the Abandoned Cave in the Caelid region.

You should make sure you are well prepared before heading over here. You’ll be dealing with the Scarlet Rot Status Effect inside, so make sure you get some high Immunity armor like the Astrologer Set or Traveler’s Set. Also, get Preserving Boluses if possible. This item is very hard to craft but you can get a few in the early game. Preserving Boluses prevents Scarlet Rot build-up and cures it completely.

Now follow the steps below to get Golden Scarab in Elden Ring:

  1. After entering the cave, jump as far as you can down the cliff. But never jump or roll inside the Scarlet Rot; just walk to the nearest shore. Avoid the exploding areas in Scarlet Rot, you will die if you touch them.
  2. On the first piece of land without Scarlet Rot, wait for the Scarlet Rot build-up to clear for a while. Then continue down the cave.
  3. You will reach a cliff again, jump from this cliff to the right side, and move forward. You will encounter a mushroom-headed enemy who will throw poison and you can either kill him or bypass him.
  4. After passing through a narrow cave full of Rats, you will reach a large chamber. Continue on the path to the right in this room with a huge flower in the center.
  5. After passing the two mushroom-headed mages at the top, you reach the boss room. After killing the bosses named Cleanrot Knight (Spear) and Cleanrot Knight (Sickle), you can get the Golden Scarab item in the Elden Ring.
