Nintendo’s Virtual Console provides a chance for gamers, new and experienced, to enjoy some of Nintendo’s older titles without having to pull out our 64’s and SNES’s. Nintendo’s newest console, Switch, will now give consumers the opportunity to play their favorite GameCube titles.
If Eurogamer’s sources are correct, this will be the first time we will see GameCube titles as a part of Nintendo’s virtual console line-up. The anonymous sources gave the thumb’s up for at least three very exciting titles: Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Haunted Mansion, and last bur definitely not least, Super Smash Brothers Melee. The rumor is that Animal Crossing may be making an appearance as well.
While the GameCube may be the red-headed stepchild of  Nintendo’s consoles, it offered some really great and innovative titles like Pikmin and The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. Super Smash Brothers Melee also developed a huge fan base on its release, and gamers have been begging for a remastered version ever since. Aside from its loyal fan base, Super Smash Melee is huge in the eSports community.
Hopefully, the Switch will also feature the same upgrade program of the Wii U. If you have bought games through the virtual console on your Wii you can upgrade them for the Wii U for just a few bucks. Other rumors at the moment consist of the ability to use the GameCube controllers adapted for Wii U on the Switch and which other consoles the Switch’s virtual line-up will include.
