Free Comic Book Day 2024 is still a few months away, but that isn’t stopping DC from teasing fans with what they have planned. On May 4 2024, the comic publisher will once again offer free comics at local comic book shops and on DC Universe Infinite. To get readers ready, DC has unveiled what they have planned for the annual event. This includes a special MAD Magazine issue, a BARDA 2024 special, and an all-pets adventure. However, the biggest offering from DC this year remains a mystery as it will tie-in to an as-of-yet announced summer event.
First Look At DC’s Offerings
For Free Comic Book Day 2024 DC Comics has several issues planned. The “main event’ for DC this year is a special edition issue. It will serve as a prelude to DC’s biggest comic event for the year. While most of the details are unknown, it is a story 30 years in the making that promises to shake the DC Universe up. The Free Comic Book Day story will guide readers into a new series launching later this summer.
DC is also giving out three other free issues this year. First up is Barkham Asylum. This FCBD edition follows the henchpets to some of DC’s biggest villains as they try to stop Dr. Hugo Mange in the walls of the maximum-security pound. The issue also previews the upcoming graphic novel of the same name. Next up is the BARDA FCBD issue. This follows Granny Goodness’s right-hand warrior Barda as she navigates self-discovery, deep friendships, and even first love. Finally, a special FCBD edition of MAD Magazine will playfully mock the heroes of DC.
Free Comic Book Day
This year’s Free Comic Book Day is taking place on Saturday May 4. As with the previous iterations of the event, it will provide a wide selection of free comics for readers. Since 2002, FCBD has helped revitalize business for local comic book shops. Every year offers something for everyone from children and young adult issues to more adult-oriented comics.
