The Chenyu Vale in Liyue connects the newer Fontaine and the original Liyue, and this beautiful expansion features plenty of puzzles to solve and new monsters to beat. This includes the Solitary Suanni world boss, a majestic and graceful creature in Genshin Impact that drops some important artifacts and materials to level up your characters. Here’s what you need to know to bring your A-game while challenging this difficult Genshin Impact world boss.

The Solitary Suanni world boss is located in Chenyu Vale, a Liyue expansion introduced in Version 4.4. This location connects Fontaine and Liyue, but you don’t need to get too far in the game to unlock Chenyu Vale. The easiest way to reach Chenyu Vale is to teleport to the Teleport Waypoint located in Mt. Hulao. Following this, trek on over to the Teleport Waypoint pictured below. The Solitary Suanni boss is a short walk from that waypoint.

The Solitary Suanni is a Hydro and Anemo boss in Genshin Impact that has some mechanics you should be aware of before starting the fight. When creating your team, note that the Solitary Suanni has a 70% resistance to Hydro and Anemo attacks. As such, we don’t recommend bringing Hydro characters to this fight, although Anemo characters can still be useful in triggering Swirl and lowering the boss’ other elemental resistances.

This boss has a couple of major mechanics you need to be aware of. After losing about 70% of its health, the Solitary Suanni will begin to queue up a strong attack. The Solitary Suanni will imbue itself with Hydro and Anemo energy, gaining major defenses during this phase. You can freeze the Solitary Suanni using Cryo attacks and then create a Shatter, Melt, Superconduct, Swirl, or Crystallize reaction to paralyze it.

If you are unable to paralyze the boss during this attack, it will create water vortexes that splash around the arena while the boss will unleash a major attack around itself. This is dodgeable, but we highly recommend bringing a team that can circumvent this mechanic.

At around 40% HP, the Solitary Suanni will queue up its second major attack. The Solitary Suanni will create three Anemo vortexes that spin around the boss. All you need to do during this phase is attack these vortexes with a Cryo, Electro, Hydro, or Pyro attack. If you are unable to diffuse the vortexes, the Solitary Suanni will unleash devastating Anemo attacks.

Wriothesley is a great Genshin Impact husbando choice.

Wriothesley is the perfect character to bring into this boss fight. His Normal Attacks are always infused with Cryo, which gives him easy access to counter both of this boss’ mechanics. You can bring him alongside Shenhe, Bennett, and Kazuha to increase his damage.

Yoimiya is also a great choice for this fight, as her Pyro-infused attacks can easily beat down the Solitary Suanni. Her Charged Attacks can be used to diffuse the Anemo vortexes in the boss’ second major mechanic, although it’s recommended to bring a Cryo character for its first major attack.
