This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Like any other survival game, Pacific Drive features many materials players must collect to craft better things, and one of the most important ones is Scrap Metal. Initially, you might think this is not important and leave it on the road instead of bringing it home, but that is a huge mistake. Once you start unlocking better parts for your car, you’ll be burning through your Scrap Metal deposits, so you need to look for a way to farm it in Pacific Drive. Thankfully, there are plenty of things that give it, so you only need to watch out for them once you hit the road.

How To Get Scrap Metal in Pacific Drive

Your first approach to this material will occur during the tutorial. Once you reach Oppy’s Garage, you’ll learn how to dismantle car parts with your Scrapper, and, believe it or not, this is the best way to farm Scrap Metal in Pacific Drive. Still, since there’s only one car in the garage, here’s what we recommend doing:

  1. Head to the Route Planner.
  2. Select any route that has a high vehicle density.
  3. Craft two or three Scrappers.
  4. Head to the zone and break down every car you find.
    • For this step, remember to open the trunk first before scrapping it. You can destroy the trunk’s loot if you break it without opening it, so be careful.

Usually, this is the easiest and fastest way to farm Scrap Metal in Pacific Drive. Yes, you can also break into houses and trailers and look for this material, but you’ll get larger amounts by scrapping cars.

How To Spend Your Scrap Metal

You’ll quickly notice that car upgrades use a lot of Scrap Metal, such as Steel Sheets that require six pieces of Scrap Metal, and, as a recommendation, we think it is a good idea to save it for making better parts. Your car will require more protection once you reach the mid-zone or travel beyond it. The anomalies and the storm get more dangerous, meaning that crude parts won’t do it. That is why you should grab as much Scrap Metal as possible and bring it back to the garage before hitting the exclusion zone’s deep areas. Also, we recommend taking a few drives before progressing the main story because, as we always say, it is better to be safe than sorry. Still, if you are feeling brave, nothing’s stopping you from hitting the gas and exploring this strange area.
