The frames, oh the glorious frames.

Capcom’s biggest upcoming game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, is nearing its highly anticipated release. But ever since its gameplay reveal, fans have been concerned about the game’s framerate. It was previously believed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would be limited to 30 FPS on consoles and 60 FPS on PC, this incorrect revelation left a sour taste in fans’ mouths. But to dispel all the confusion, Capcom has officially announced the framerate details for Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Confoundingly, all the gameplay trailers for Dragon’s Dogma 2 showed it running at 30-60 FPS. But luckily, according to Hideaki Itsuno, the game’s director, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will have a completely uncapped framerate. He unceremoniously put the entire discussion to rest by posting it through his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Uncapped Framerate Will Give Smooth FPS On Consoles As Well

Some fans were almost sure that Dragon’s Dogma 2’s framerate would be uncapped on PC, but this time Capcom has gone above and beyond the call of duty. When a fan asked if consoles would also get the better framerate, Itsuno simply liked the comment, implying that it was indeed the case.

This should be great news for Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans, for the most part. Other than the framerate, players were concerned about how Capcom designed the save system. It seems that anyone playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 will only get one save slot, which means you cannot test multiple classes and then go back and try another. And since autosaving will keep overwriting the slot, you won’t be able to revert any losses due to the monstrous enemies.

But that may be for the best as it preserves the developers’ vision about how the game is supposed to be played.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on March 22, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
