Believe it or not, Pacific Drive has an engaging mechanic that allows you to customize your vehicle with several things. While it doesn’t provide a lot of gameplay benefits, it makes those gloomy rides a bit more entertaining and gives your station wagon some personality. Yes, you might need to explore the map more than necessary to get certain cosmetic items, but since this is your mobile base, why not give it a style you like? Even if this car isn’t the fastest in the Exclusion Zone, it’ll be the most fashionable one around.

How Does Vehicle Customization Work in Pacific Drive? Answered

Pacific Drive allows you to customize your vehicle with different things, but it is important to understand what you need for each one. In the game, you can paint your car and put on decals, and then you can add hood and dashboard ornaments, different steering wheels, and more. But, as we mentioned, you need to scour the map to find everything.

Painting Your Vehicle

The first and free option you’ll get to customize your vehicle is through painting and decals. After you find your first car paint in the world, you must return it to the garage and add it to your paint shelf. From there, you must grab the item and select the car part you want to paint or add a decal to. Remember that car paints and decals run out, similar to survival tools. So, we recommend painting your ride after you unlock the ability to repair car parts in the garage or if you have enough Repair Putty.

Adding Decorations to Your Car

For this, you must first build the Detailing Station. Once you do, you’ll unlock a new inventory that contains all types of decorations ranging from ornaments to new steering wheels and more. You can find these decorations while exploring the map, and they’ll become available at the garage once you safely return to it. Also, it seems these decorations have unlimited uses, so you can swap them for another one without losing them, contrary to paints and decals.

While it isn’t the most urgent matter to attend, being able to customize your vehicle in Pacific Drive is a welcome addition. Ultimately, that’s where you’ll spend most of your time, so making it cozier and adding a personal touch isn’t a bad idea.
