The long-awaited atmospheric adventure game from Tequila Works, Rime, has finally been given a new trailer. The beautiful, new trailer shows an updated version of the game along with some intricate environments and a few creepy villains.

In this open world, adventure title, you play as a boy that finds himself on a strange island. You must find a cure for the curse that plagues you and you have no choice but to turn to the looming towers in the distance. Who’s the hooded figure the boy is seen chasing in the trailer? Time will only tell! In true ICO fashion, the game appears to have an atmospheric feel with its unspoken narrative. IGN received the official re-release trailer a few days ago.

Rime was announced over 3 years ago at Gamescom 2013 for the first time where it was advertised as a PlayStation exclusive. When any other news of Tequila Work’s title became non-existent, Sony dropped the deal back in March of 2016. Once the title was dropped from the exclusive contract, the developers took full advantage of their freedom. Rime will now release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo’s Switch, and PC as announced at the end of the trailer. Rumor has it that the game will release at some point in May of 2017. The developers said they had no excuse for their absence other than they would only release the game once it was ready. And after seeing the new trailer, I, for one, am stoked that Tequila Works took their time.

The trailer also shows a few intricate puzzles that our main character must solve to move forward. Rime has been deemed the love child of the Legend of Zelda series and The Last Guardian due to its head-scratching puzzles, colorfully, artistic environments, unspoken narrative, and adorable companions.

2017 is looking like an incredible year for gaming, and I would recommend leaving a spot for Rime on your list of “must-need” games.
