There’s ‘No Way in Hell’ Putin Will Lose, Elon Musk says, so the U.S. Should Abandon Ukraine

This isn’t really his place to comment.

  • Is Musk in Cahoots With Russia?
This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Elon Musk is still trying to convince the world that he isn’t a Putin apologist, but given his recent campaign for the U.S. to withdraw support for Ukraine, that allegation still stands. Musk thinks the U.S. should stop sending aid to Ukraine as he believes the fight against Russia is futile.

The second-richest man in the world told U.S. Senator Ron Johnson in a live audio conversation, known as X Space, that if Putin were to cease the assault on Ukraine, he would most certainly be assassinated. In Musk’s eyes, Ukraine will lose this war, so there isn’t much point left in fighting the good fight.

These comments were made in conversation with not only Senator Johnson, but also JD Vance, Mike Lee, and Vivek Ramaswamy. The Tesla CEO assured listeners that he was — in no way — a Putin apologist and that his companies have “done more to undermine Russia than anyone.”

“My companies have probably done more to undermine Russia than anyone. Space X has taken away two-thirds of the Russian launch business. Starlink has overwhelmingly helped Ukraine. My concern is exactly what you articulated. If you have an extended war of attrition, every day that goes by, you’re losing more Ukrainian people.

They aren’t even Ukrainian boys anymore because they are running out of boys. And if you are going to spend lives, it must be for a purpose. Not just a mile back and forth. In fact, the lines aren’t moving. So, just every day, people die. As you said, there’s no way Putin is going to lose. If he backs off, he will be assassinated.”

In 2022, a battle for Ukraine’s internet began as citizens faced outages all across the country. Electricians and engineers were escorted through Ukrainian territory to attempt repairing damaged fiber-optic cables and base stations. These outages left Ukrainian citizens cut off from the outside world, unable to contact family and friends.

Is Musk in Cahoots With Russia?

Despite allegations to the contrary, Musk helped Ukraine by supplying Starlink satellite receivers for civilians to retain internet access amid Russia’s relentless attacks.

Musk has acted an amplifier for Donald Trump’s election bid, which hones in on the Ukraine vs. Russia war. Now, he is rallying together with other Republicans to effectively block aid to Ukraine from Congress. His change of heart apparently came from main intelligence service reports in Kyiv claiming solid proof Russian forces were now using his Starlink communications network against Ukraine on the battlefield.

Musk denied any knowledge that his technology was being sold “directly or indirectly” to Russia.

A number of false news reports claim that SpaceX is selling Starlink terminals to Russia.

This is categorically false.

To the best of our knowledge, no Starlinks have been sold directly or indirectly to Russia.

Now that he has doubled back on his decision to supply Ukraine, Musk is making it clear that — in his mind — Russia is destined to win, so what would be the sense in pumping out supplies to Ukraine when it’s so obviously outmatched?

It still begs the question as to why Elon Musk feels he can speak on behalf of an entire nation as to the future of their country, but that is the definition of politics.
