Marvel is giving a version of Wolverine his very own miniseries. Hellverine is a four-issue series that will follow the Logan than successfully reined in the Spirit of Vengeance. This is the version of the Marvel character that was first introduced in Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance. Now, writer Benjamin Percy will take Logan on a trip through hell as he manages to come to terms with his new fiery powers. Joining Percy for the series is artist Julius Ohta and colorist Ryan Stegman.
From Wolverine To Hellverine
Speaking about the upcoming series, Benjamin Percy knew when they created Hellverine way back when, he wouldn’t stay gone for long. The Ghost Rider/Wolverine crossover lit a fire in fans that couldn’t be contained. Readers responded well to the concept of Logan with the iconic flaming skull and claws. So, Marvel is bringing back the character for their very own series, one that will both thrill readers and terrify them.
According to an official synopsis for the series, it all kicked off with a demon. When the demonic force known as Bagra-ghul first came to Earth, it brought Wolverine and Ghost Rider together. It eventually possessed Wolverine and ended with the entity known as Hellverine. Now, in present day, something else has awoken Hellverine. However, is Logan using his fiery claws for good or evil this time around? And, who are these Hellfire Warriors? That is something Percy and co. are going to answer in the four-issue series.
Some New Faces
Making Wolverine’s next outing as the titular Hellverine even more exciting is the addition of newcomer Julius Ohta. The artist has worked with Percy to craft some iconic imagery for the Ghost Rider-infused mutant. Plus, the promise of these Hellfire Warriors is getting fans eager to know more. So far, the creative team has only teased the name Hellfire Warriors with no more information yet available. Breaking down the name, it is easy to conclude that Hellverine may be bringing some familiar flame-infused faces along for the trip.
All will be revealed when Hellverine #1 drops on 05/29.
