This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

In Last Epoch, enemies are piรฑataย and you’re the wild child getting showered with “candy” with each swing; soon enough, you’ll find yourself confused with the rewards. Last Epoch is a loot-based ARPG, after all, and it’s only a matter of time before you’re drowning in loot. Thankfully, the thoughtful developers included a loot filter in the game. This way, you can read or compare less and kill more. Here’s our Last Epoch loot filter guide to get you started.

For those who aren’t aware of what it does, especially if your first ARPG is Diablo 4, the loot filter is a customizable list or instruction set that will filter out items you don’t want or show you only items you want. It’s ideal if you don’t want to spend too much time picking up loot that you don’t need.

You might think that you don’t need it now in the early game, but you will soon enough. Here’s how to turn it on.

  1. Head on over to the in-game menu. If you’re in-game, just press the ‘Esc‘ or Escape key and select ‘Settings.’
  2. Under Settings, go to the ‘Gameplay‘ tab. It’s usually set there by default, so you only have to scroll down.
  3. Look for the ‘Loot Filter‘ section. There’s a drop-down menu there that says ‘No Filter.’ That’s because by default, you need to create your own filter or download one.
  4. If you want to create one, simply select ‘Manage Loot Filters‘ and then ‘Create a Filter.’ We recommend you pick this option if you’re new to the game.
  5. However, if you’re already fond of Last Epoch and are following a specific build, you can just import someone else’s loot filter parameters. Head over to this website for a list of loot filters. You can either download them or copy and paste them and then select them in the Loot Filter drop-down menu.

The next section is for newbies who are fiddling with the loot filter mechanics. Again, we recommend that beginners create their own loot filter, especially if you don’t want to feel like someone’s forcing you into a limited playstyle.

Creating your own Last Epoch loot filter is easy enough. You can narrow it down to specific stats and specific items. All in all, you can add 75 specific rules.

You do have to know what you want or need for your character, however. For example, if you pick the Paladin Mastery Class for the Sentinel, then you’re going to want lots of Fire Damage on your weapons or Melee Damage.

Check what active skills you’re using and check for which damage types they scale. The skills usually tell if they scale from Physical, Fire, Void, or etc. damage. For defensive stats, you’ll naturally want Resistance (Elemental, etc.), Critical Strike Avoidance, Move Speed, Armor, and even Damage.
