Days after ditching his godfather’s memorial, Prince William officially returns to his royal duties with a powerful message on antisemitism. Just hours earlier, the internet was aghast at the state of health of Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton. While many have been worried about the princess’s health since she underwent abdominal surgery in January, her continued absence with no update heightened emotions. Hence, when Prince William bailed out of a royal event honoring his late Godfather King Constantine II at the last minute for personal reasons, all hell broke loose. For many, it became the ultimate conviction that those “personal reasons” had everything to do with his wife’s health.
Palace Takes a Stand on Kate Middleton’s Health
The prevailing speculations and wild theories across media platforms forced Kensington Palace to address the public. A palace spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek that their previous guidance on Kate Middleton’s health still stands and the royal “continues to be doing well.” They also took a strong position on the public’s continued inquiry into something as personal as the Princess’s health, stating,
“As we have been clear since or initial statement in January, we shall not be providing a running commentary or providing daily updates.”
The Palace last shared an update on Kate’s recovery on July 29, confirming her return home after extensive hospitalization. Since then, it’s been silence on the royal front, with no recent photo or word from the Princess of Wales, who was last seen publicly on December 25.
Prince William Resumes Royal Duties
Meanwhile, Prince William is settling back into his life as a working royal following an extensive break from official duties to look after his wife and family. The future King, who came under fire recently for shunning his duties while still getting paid millions visited the Western Marble Arch Synagogue in Central London.
During his royal visit, Prince William joined discussions on antisemitism in Britain, calling for an end to prejudice in society. Notably, the event was initially scheduled to take place on Holocaust Memorial Day in January. However, Kate Middleton’s surgery and recovery prompted them to postpone it. While the Princess still couldn’t make it on the new date, Prince William made sure to relay her thoughts. Addressing attendees, he shared,
“Both Catherine and I are extremely concerned about the rise in anti-Semitism that you guys have talked about this morning and I’m just so sorry if any of you have had to experience that.”
He went on to reassure attendees and those who experience societal prejudice that they were there to listen and do something about it. After a successful day talking to some Holocaust survivors and activists, the Prince received a bouquet for his wife from the group, thus wrapping up his first royal duty in weeks.
