Fans hoping for Taylor Swift to make a presidential endorsement recently had their hopes dashed. On Tuesday, the star opened up about Super Tuesday primary elections in Tennessee. Taking to social media, Swift urged people across 16 states to head to the polls and cast their ballots to pick the Republican and Democratic nominees for president. However, Taylor Swift’s Super Tuesday message contained no presidential endorsement. This came as a surprise to many, considering that the singer backed President Joe Biden in 2020.
Taylor Swift Stays Silent About Any Presidential Endorsement Ahead of Primary Elections
With the upcoming presidential elections in the US only a few months away, many have been eagerly awaiting Taylor Swift’s presidential endorsement. Tuesday seemed the perfect day for Swift to endorse her candidate as she spoke about the primary elections. However, in Taylor Swift’s Super Tuesday message, the star surprisingly maintained her silence on that front. Instead, Swift focused on urging her followers to go out in their numbers and vote for their candidate.
“Today, March 5, is the presidential primary in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories,” Swift began her message.
The Grammy Award winner then reminded fans to vote into power the people who represented them. “If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today,” she continued. Swift finished the message by urging people in and outside Tennessee to check for their polling places and times at VOTE.ORG.
Taylor Swift’s Impact on Voters Over the Years
Although Taylor Swift has yet to make any presidential endorsement, the singer boasts a massive Instagram following of 282 million. As such, she is quite influential in pulling voters into the polls. In 2018, Swift made the headlines when she made her first public endorsement ahead of the midterm elections. According to reports, Swift’s post got 169,000 people to register to vote in two days. Two years later, Swift publicly endorsed Biden and spoke against Donald Trump. Given how the elections turned out, there are rumors that the Biden-Harris campaign hopes to score in Swift’s endorsement again this year. Will the iconic singer endorse Biden? Only time will tell.
