This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

It’s Cold War and you’ve been involuntarily assigned to complete brainwash testing trials. If you’re successful, you get to live through more tasks and risk your life for the sake of experiments. How many trials and levels will you endure in The Outlast Trials?

The game had three maps during the early access period, and now with the official 1.0 release and subsequent July, 2024 update, it has six maps in total. The game’s full release adds two more maps into the mix, making the test subjects’ lives harder by having to escape hell two more times.

Editor’s note: New information has been added following the launch of the Season 1 Update.

Each map has two main trials to accomplish, which are the main objectives for escaping Mother Gooseberry or Leland Coyle. Once you’ve completed the mains, there’ll be a final objective for finishing the job and going back to base. However, there’s more. Once you’ve completed a run in one of the levels, you’ll find two more missions to complete. These are the harder versions of the first two trials you’ve done.

So in total, The Outlast Trials features six maps and over 25 trials. It’s noteworthy that only the two main missions are marked as trials in the game’s menu, but still, all challenges are considered as trials by the characters.

With the game’s full release version 1.0, now console players will also get to experience the horror of these trials on their PlayStation and Xbox devices. It’s too bad we only get to see two main villains in five maps, though. We might see more blood-burning psychos chasing the players in future updates.
