It’s been a tumultuous start to the start of 2017, as politics have dominated the news feeds, with an overwhelming majority of the subject matters revolving around negativity. If there has been any benefit to the political mayhem currently occurring in Washington it’s that satire sketch shows like Saturday Night Live have pretty much been writing themselves.

The cold open to the latest episode featured an unrecognizable Melissa Mccarthy depicting White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer heading a televised press conference on C-SPAN in one of the most memorable SNL skits in ages. The satire filled portrayal of the Secretary poked fun at numerous recent issues revolving around the White house’s battle with the media.

McCarthy poked fun at Spicer’s aggressive nature toward the news in the past months, calling them stupid, stating alternate facts and charging at them with her/his podium. The skit was the start to an overall entertaining episode that saw Alec Baldwin yet again return as POTUS Donald Trump, as the actor and President have been feuding for months now in regards to the actor’s representation of Trump.

Former Twilight star Kristen Stewart hosted the politically filled episode of Saturday Night Live, appearing in multiple skits, including Mccarthy’s skit as Spicer. Stewart’s monolog began stating:

“I’m a little nervous to be hosting since the President’s probably watching, and I don’t think he likes me that much,” she said. “And if you didn’t like me then, you’ll definitely not like me now because I’m hosting SNL and I’m, like, so gay, dude.”

McCarthy, Stuart and Baldwin’s performances were all top notch and are sure to draw a tweet or two from the President over the next couple of days. For more Saturday Night Live, entertainment and all things nerdy  be sure to check back to the site for updates!
