Every challenge in Phasmophobia, like the Survival of the Fittest Challenge, or the Speedrun Challenge, have specific modifiers that are made to make it either easier or more difficult. In the case of the Survival of the Fittest Challenge, it gets quite a bit more difficult, even if the difficulty settings for the contract itself aren’t raised from Intermediate at all. Completing the Survival of the Fittest Challenge requires skill, teamwork, and most importantly, a “think outside the box” attitude. Let’s take a look at how, exactly, to complete the Survival of the Fittest Challenge in Phasmophobia.

    • You’ve got no pills, no sanity and no evidence to work with. It’s gonna be a tough one!
    • Correctly find the ghost type in 42 Edgefield Road 3x times.

Before we get started, let’s take a look at the loadout we’re up against. We’ll have access to:

  • Motion Sensors
  • Sound Sensors
  • Parabolic Microphone
  • Salt
  • Candles and Lighters
  • Headgear
  • Salt
  • Crucifix
  • EMF Reader
  • Spirit Box
  • Camera
  • Flashlight

The process will be tricky, but it certainly won’t be impossible. There are some things to keep in mind before you head into 42 Edgefield Road to start tacking on those Challenge Mode wins. First, no Sanity means ghost will attack as soon as the timer runs out. Be prepared, and be on your guard, investigator. Additionally, without Sanity Pills, you’ll have no way on increasing your already nonexistent Sanity, so rather than finding a way to get around it, find a way to work with it.

Next, not having any means of collecting evidence can be tricky, but it’s not impossible. Here’s a list you should follow to make it through each contract:

  1. Take all of your available and useful items and lay them at the front door before you head inside. This will give you more time to investigate and take away from the time used toting items from the truck into the house.
  2. Check for Ghost Orbs first. This is clear evidence that the ghost is a Mimic.
  3. Using your Parabolic Microphones and Sound Sensors to check for the ghost’s movement speed and vocalization. You can compare them to this ghost type cheat sheet to determine the ghost type.
  4. Pay attention to the behaviors and actions of the ghost otherwise. Some can easily be determined without any evidence.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
