If you plan on crafting every item in FF7 Rebirth, at some point, you’ll need Astral Remnant. It’s an essential material for crafting one of the best Ethers in the game: Dry Ether. It’s great to have in a pitch, considering it grants 100 MP, which can easily fill your magic bar, if not get very close.
Where to Find Astral Remnant in FF7 Rebirth
While Astral Remnant may be rare to find in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are multiple sources you can take advantage of. Some sources are one-off, but others allow you to essentially farm Astral Remnant if you’re trying to stockpile. I know I would, just to craft Dry Ethers.
More importantly, the sources for Astral Remnant become available right as you start Chapter 12 and gain control of the Bronco, such as:
- Gold Saucer
- Defeating mini-bosses during The Pirate King’s Treasure side quest
- During the main story
Complete Minigames at the Gold Saucer
At the Gold Saucer, there are two minigames you can play that’ll net you three Astral Remnants altogether: G-Bike and Musclehead Colosseum. Bring your A-game because both are going to be a bit of a challenge, especially the latter.
The easiest out of the two is the G-Bike minigame, which you can find at the Wonderment Square. You want to play the game on Expert and rack up at least 23,000 points. In doing so, you’ll be awarded a single Astral Remnant in addition to some Gold Saucer Points. Keep in mind that’s the only one you’ll get!
The most challenging source is from the Advanced 6-person bouts at the Musclehead Colosseum, specifically The Boss and the Hound. In order to unlock it, you have to complete every 6-person bout that comes before it, which is admittedly a lot of work. On the bright side, you get two Astral Remnants in FF7 Rebirth.
Obtain Astral Remnant at the Pirate King’s Grottos
Right after you gain access to the Bronco and park at Costa del Sol, there’s a chest at the dock you can loot. This will start the Pirate King’s Treasure side quest, along with a treasure map marked with four locations.
As it just so happens, each of the Pirate King’s grottos houses not only treasure but mini-bosses, too. By defeating each one, there’s a chance you’ll obtain an Astral Remnant, but morphing them will work, too, as long as you have the Morph Materia equipped.
Collect Astral Remnant During Chapter 13
Last but not least is the Astral Remnant, which you can pick up in Chapter 13 when you visit the Temple of the Ancients. You’ll only find two altogether, and they’re located in the following:
- Hall of Life – First Tier, by the Pillar of Exile in a chest
- Hall of Life – Second Tier, in the Corridor of Repose in a chest
If you’re trying to farm Astral Remnant in FF7 Rebirth, then I suggest fighting the mini-bosses at the Pirate King’s grottos. Not only is it possible to double dip—getting as many as two per fight if you morph—you can fight them over and over.
