Over in the Merchant Quarter of Vernworth, youโ€™ll come across a beggar by the name of Albert telling wild tales. Another beggar watching, clearly jealous of Albertโ€™s success, has a hard time believing Albertโ€™s methods and wonders how he even makes any gold. Naturally, you take it upon yourself to play detective and find out, in turn, you get the quest โ€œA Beggarโ€™s Taleโ€ in Dragonโ€™s Dogma 2. As it turns out, thereโ€™s more to this โ€œbeggarโ€ than meets the eye.

If you do keep your eye on Albert, youโ€™ll find that he isnโ€™t who he says he is. His first stop is to see his wife, Celina, in The Slums. It seems theyโ€™re both down on their luck, doing what they can to survive. Afterwards, he stops at the Common Quarter to change into fancy clothes. His final destination is in the Noble Quarter.

As it turns out, Albert is a nobleman! And heโ€™s already married to another woman, Hilda. Well, itโ€™s time to crash his party. Right after Albert changes his clothes in the Common Quarter, youโ€™re going to do some B&E to steal his Beggarโ€™s Garb.

With the Beggarโ€™s Garb in your possession, you have one of three choices:

  • Give the garb back to Albert
  • Give the garb to Celina
  • Give the garb to Hilda

If you want to come away from A Beggarโ€™s Tale with the best reward in Dragonโ€™s Dogma 2, give the Beggarโ€™s Garb back to Albert. Just wait an entire day, then revisit his home in the Common Quarter. Heโ€™ll bribe you with 5000 gold to keep your lips sealed.

If you want Albert to turn over a new leaf, give the Beggarโ€™s Garb to Hilda in the Noble Quarter. After a day has passed, revisit Hilda and sheโ€™ll give you three onyxes.

Compared to the other two options, Hilda offers the lowest reward (each onyx is worth 800 gold), but onyx can be used as a gift to improve relationships.

If you choose to give Celina the Beggarโ€™s Garb, sheโ€™ll kill Albert, then herself. Right after you hand over the clothes, wait a day, then visit Albertโ€™s house in the Common Quarter. There will be guards stationed outside the house and will break the news to you. You get 3000 gold and a single Noonbloom.
