A fierce leader who cannot stand by when witnessing injustices, it’s no surprise that Ulrika won the hearts of many players from the moment she first appeared in Dragon’s Dogma 2. But did you know that she also has the most heartwarming romance cutscenes in the game? Here’s how to romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by completing the Home Is Where the Heart Is quest. The quest can be unlocked after you complete Tale’s Beginning, Seat of the Sovran, In Dragon’s Wake, Scaly Invaders, Readvent of Calamity, and Trouble on the Cape. You can check out how to unlock each of the mentioned quests below, as well as how to complete Home Is Where the Heart Is by heading further down.

  • Tale’s Beginning: Automatically triggered after you escape The Hole during the game’s prologue.
  • In Dragon’s Wake: Automatically triggered after completing Tale’s Beginning.
  • Seat of the Sovran: Triggered by reaching Vernworth and then meeting with Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn.
  • Scaly Invaders: Triggered by visiting Harve Village a couple of times. Will be automatically triggered after you leave Stormwind Cave during Monster Culling.
  • Readvent of Calamity: Triggered by visiting Melve a few days after completing Seat of the Sovran and at least the first part of Scaly Invaders. If the quest fails to trigger once you return to the town, just rest at a camp and then visit it again during the daytime. You will know that the quest has begun if a dragon is attacking Melve once you arrive.
  • Trouble on the Cape: Visit Harve Village after completing Readvent of Calamity.

After completing Trouble on the Cape, you can trigger Home Is Where the Heart Is by first heading to Melve. Once there, you will notice that the town has been put under the army’s control by the Queen Regent. To officially start the quest, head to the main gate and then pay 5,000 gold to enter. Now that you gained access to the town, head to Ulrika’s former house and talk to Lennart, who will ask for your help in providing 4 swords for the townspeople to defend themselves. You can get the needed weapons easily by heading to Vernworth and then purchasing four Iron Swords for 1.480G each.

Once you get the swords, head back to Melve —yes, you will need to pay another 5,000G— and give them to Lennart before joining him in a battle against the soldiers. After the battle, the people of Melve will head to Harve Village, so wait one in-game day and then head there to meet Ulrika to progress through the quest.

While at Harve Village, you will be able to meet Ulrika by the pier during the day. After you speak to her, she will thank you and ask you to meet her at the same spot after nightfall.

Now, simply talk to Ulrika again during the night to trigger one of the game’s most heartwarming scenes and complete both her romance and the Home is Where the Heart Is quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Completing Home is Where the Heart Is will reward you with 12000 Gold, 1200 XP, and a Ring of Reassurance.

All Romance Options in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Apart from Ulrika, and at the time of writing, the only other romanceable character I managed to find in the game is Wilhelmina. It’s impossible to complete quests featuring romance-related cutscenes without triggering them in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so keep that in mind.

It’s also important to point out that even characters without romance-related cutscenes can have their affinities raised to the max and thus end up becoming your Beloved at the end of the game —I myself ended up maxing out the affinity of many characters while simply completing their quests. Although there’s no way to see how high your affinity is with each character after they start blushing, you can check out how many gauges you managed to max out by heading to History, Adventure Logbook, and then to NPCs.

You can play Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
