DC Comics is giving fans a deeper look at its upcoming summer event, Absolute Power. At the center of this new event is a four-issue miniseries from Mark Waid and Dan Mora. It all kicks off on Free Comic Book Day this year. DC is offering Absolute Power 2024 FCBD Special Edition to readers. It features an original story from Waid that will set up the summer event. Now we know that from there, the event will branch out into several spinoff miniseries that will release throughout June and July.
Absolute Power
Absolute Power is gearing up to be one of DC Comics’ wildest events. It focuses on Amanda Waller and her use of Failsafe. Specifically, Waller uses Failsafe in combination with otherworld tech from the Brainiac Queen to target all metahumans. She steals the abilities of every superhero and supervillain across the globe. This threat spurs the heroes of the DC Universe into action. Yet, it will take the combined forces of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more to try and stop this.
DC has been teasing this event for the past several months. Throughout the Dawn of DC initiative, several comics have hinted at a “Trinity of Evil”. A threat that will have big ramifications for the DC Universe. Now, Failsafe, Brainiac Queen, and Amanda Waller will make up that triumvirate of evil. To get fans hyped, DC Comics has released several details on the spinoff and one-shots this event will produce.
Branching Out
Following the Free Comic Book Day tease, DC Comics is filling June and July with a ton of Absolute Power releases. Kicking it off is Absolute Power: Ground Zero #1 from a slew of creative talent.
