Bread is a staple Medieval diet and one of the Food varieties your peasants will be asking for if you want to upgrade their lifestyle. Making Bread, however, is more complex than simply collecting Meat, Berries, or other Food Manor Lords. It’s a long process that requires your knowledge to get Grain. Here’s how to get started on getting Grain and making Bread (but not necessarily dough) in Manor Lords.

Start with Wheat

Here’s what you need to get you started in harvesting Wheat for Grain:

  1. Ensure you have at least four unassigned families.
  2. Click on the Construction segment in the Hotbar.
  3. Look to the right, on the Overlay section, and click on Emmer Fertility. This is Wheat fertility simplified. You want land with green Emmer Fertility.
  4. Once you have your land, select Construction > Farming, then build a nearby Farmhouse and connect it to a road, and then build a Field over the fertile land. The size should depend on how many families you can assign to the Field.
  5. Once the Field is built, select it and click on the Crop Type drop-down menu, then select Wheat.
  6. Ideally, assign at least 1-2 families to the Farmhouse, so they can work in the Field you built.

As a word of warning, all Fields and fertile lands in Manor Lords will lose their fertility if you repeatedly grow one crop. You might want to enable the Crop Rotation mechanic and select different Crops per year or alternate Wheat with Fallow.

Also, make sure you have a Granary or a Storehouse so the Wheat actually goes somewhere. I did say at least four unassigned families, right? Here’s what you need to do with the rest of the unassigned families.

Once you finally have your Wheat supply either in your Granary or Storehouse, follow these steps to turn your Wheat into Grain and then into Bread.

  1. Go to Construction > Farming, then Build a Windmill. Ideally, build it close to the Farmhouse. Assign at least one family to it.
  2. The Windmill will turn the Wheat into Grain in Manor Lords.
  3. Afterward, build a Communal Oven (Farming tab) near the Marketplace. Assign at least one family to the Communal Oven.
  4. The Communal Oven will then turn the Grain into Bread.

It might take a while before you start getting Bread since Wheat harvest is seasonal and sometimes, the Crops might get destroyed due to unfortunate events.
