This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

After a certain point in Manor Lords, your once homeless peasants will want Gucci clothing, the choosing beggars they are. Well, at least that’s the case if you want to upgrade them to Artisan citizens. They’re going to need more than one type of clothing or even more than two if you want to upgrade your citizens further. Here’s how to get more clothing in Manor Lords so your peasants can fashionably toil for you.

Making clothing in Manor Lords is less straightforward as you can’t see the production building in the Construction tab. It’s not there. Instead, you’ll want to build a Burgage Plot with a backyard extension. In this style:

Then, upgrade the Burgage Plot to Level 2, and in the backyard extension, build either a Tailor’s Shop (clothing types) or a Cobbler’s Workshop (Shoes).

The Tailor’s Shop makes three kinds of clothing in Manor Lords. You’re also going to need several clothing pieces the further you upgrade your Burgage Plots further than level 2.

From Burgage Plot level 2 onwards, your serfs will ask for additional clothing. Now, there are three kinds of clothing you can make in Tailor’s Shops, each requiring different materials or a combination of them.

  • Clothes – Linen + Dyes
  • Gambeson – 2x Linen (not for civilians)
  • Cloaks – Yarn + Dyes

Meanwhile, the Cobbler’s Workshop makes Shoes that require 2x Leather.

Sadly, Gambeson isn’t something you can produce for your civilians if you want to upgrade their Burgage Plots to level 3 or above. You’re stuck with providing either Shoes, Cloaks, or Clothes for your civilian population.

I recommend focusing on Shoes first, as they only require one type of resource, which is Leather.

Still, you’re going to need a surplus of Leather, Linen, Yarn, and Dyes to help you produce more clothing for your civilians. I’ve prepared a quick cheat sheet to help you produce the following resources you need for clothing without relying on expensive trading.

DyesBerries (Forager Hut – Gathering tab)Dyer’s Workshop (Industry tab)
YarnWool (Pasture & Sheep Farm – Farming tab)Weaver’s Workshop (Industry tab)

Linen and Yarn have base resources such as Wool from Sheep and Flax that are more difficult to collect either because they’re seasonal or because you need Wealth (to trade for Sheep in the Livestock Trading Post).

Thankfully, there’s no rush to get there, and you can upgrade your serfs at your own pace.
