In the latest TWID released by Bungie, we learned some interesting new things that will be happening in the coming updates. Destiny 2‘s Rahool got quite a bit of the spotlight with an announcement that none of us saw coming, and we’re going to getting some reworking done to the way that Special ammo works in the Crucible. These changes definitely threw me for a loop, but I’m definitely down with the changes coming to Rahool, his brand new Reputation Track and some of the other interesting new things happening.
Rahool Gets a New Reputation Track That Changes How Exotic Armor Sources Work
When The Final Shape finally releases, rather than getting any Exotic Armor in the usual ways, all new Exotic Armor releases will go through Rahool directly. This will change things quite a bit, but it’s definitely not the end of the Rahool Glow Up going on here. After the new expansion goes live, we’ll get to talk to Rahool and learn about his new reputation track and the rewards program that goes with it.
Essentially, the more you decode engrams with the new and improved Rahool, the more you’ll boost your Rank with him until you can reset your rank. Resetting your Rank will allow you access to a new tier of focusing, and consider you one of Rahool’s “engram Ensiders.”
Throughout this system, we’ll be able to purchase Exotic armor pieces for a single Exotic Engram and an Exotic Cipher, as well as any other focus options that we’re already accustomed to. With these changes, there will also have some alterations to the way we used to get Exotic armor as well, but we’ll learn more about that when we get closer to the release of The Final Shape.
PvP Special Ammo Distribution Gets a Big Update
With all the other interesting changes coming with The Final Shape, it only makes sense to fix up some of the older systems that aren’t quite doing it for Guardians anymore, like the Special ammo Respawn system in The Crucible.
If you remember, Bungie did some experimenting with the Meter System for Special ammo in Checkmate mode. While there were some issues with it, Bungie has balanced it out to make it much more acceptable. However, there are still some things that need to be worked out, and the same goes for the Crate System. However, the wins and losses with these systems helped to create the Blended system that will make up the Special ammo system we use shortly after The Final Shape launches.
We’ll get a smaller amount of Respawn Special ammo, Primary weapon final blows will drop a Special Ammo brick, and Crates will still be around, but a bit more difficult to see. Each Special ammo drop within the Blended system will only drop the amount of Special ammo needed to kill a single target with your equipped Special weapon.
