Xbox Game Pass
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information.

Microsoft announced earlier this week they have created a new subscription service that Xbox One users will be able to use without, or even alongside, having to buy Xbox Live Gold. Xbox Game Pass will give console owners access to over 100 Xbox One and backwards compatible games for the fee of $9.99 a month.

Though it is not a streaming service, like PlayStation Now, the library will function similarly to that of one. The downloadable subscription service is comparable to EA access, where users are given the option to choose from specific games, which will download directly to their system similar to purchasing them online.

Will the Xbox One Pass raise the bar set by subscription services like EA Access

Every month the service will receive updates on a monthly basis, adding games and sometimes taking them off the queue. When games are taken away, the ability to play them will be as well – even if they have already been downloaded – but subscribers will be given a discount at which to purchase whatever game taken of the registry.

The Xbox Game Pass will be available to a select few members of the Xbox Insider program as we speak – with plans to also launch exclusively for Xbox Live Gold Members as well – but otherwise potential subscribers will have to wait until the product launches this spring.

Xbox One Pass
Based off this image alone, the Xbox One Pass has a bevy of solidified good games, well worth $10 a month

It will be interesting to see if the service will provide high quality games that will merit the cost (adding up to double the price for Xbox Gold), or if the queue will simply not be worth the price. Be sure to stay tuned to the site for more information and all your daily Nerdy News!
