Selena Gomez largely received praise as her latest Cannes look circulated on Instagram. The 31-year-old singer painted the French town red as she attended a photo call this weekend, quickly making headlines for her designer dress, but also seeing some fans thinking she’s too young for that kind of style.
Attending the Cannes Film Festival, Selena joined the slew of celebrities swarming down on the French resort town. This year, she’s rubbing shoulders with the likes of Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Meryl Streep, and Anya-Taylor Joy.

In photos shared by Just Jared, Selena showed off her healthy curves in a gorgeous, rose-accented dress. Choosing a bold shade of red, the “Love On” singer opted for a strapless, off-the-shoulder design, a cinched waist, plus a flared lower half with a near-maxi length.
Peeping her ankles as she posed for red carpet photos, Selena completed her gorgeous, flower-centric look with a red pair of court stilettos, plus drop diamond earrings. Choosing celebrity-adored designer Giambattista Valli, the Rare Beauty founder also sported makeup from her own brand, although she likely had a glam team applying it all.

Comments on the Just Jared post came in fast. While one called Gomez “absolutely gorgeous,” another wrote: “Finally her stylist offers something that compliments her figure!” Selena’s recent looks have left some fans underwhelmed, although one user still didn’t seem to think the star’s stylist had picked the right look.
“No no no, she needs to change stylist like yesterday. She is too young to dress like this,” they said. Over 30 fans agreed. That said, the comment didn’t go ignored. Clapping back, one user replied: “She looks so beautiful in this dress. I would say 99% people liked it..your 1% view doesn’t matter.”
“And you’re too old to be talking sh*t on the internet,” another angrily replied. Selena had already made Cannes headlines for her debut look, one seeing her going slinky in a monochrome column dress from designer YSL. Here, the ex to Justin Bieber showed off her hourglass curves while dripping in diamonds, and the outfit proved a hit.
Selena has admitted that her sense of style has bounced around. In 2016, she said that it was “pretty much freefalling” as she spoke to Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquiรจre. Regardless, the star is an undeniable style icon and has, in the past, been the face of the iconic French brand.
