It’s been a few days since Nicki Minaj‘s awful Amsterdam visit, and the rapper has opened up about her experience. On May 25, news broke of Nicki Minaj’s arrest at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for allegedly carrying drugs. Not long after the news of Nicki Minaj’s arrest went viral, the rap icon jumped on her Instagram page to share a video showing her sitting in a van and speaking with a staff member at the airport. The clip opened mid-conversation, with Nicki Minaj saying, “Tell me again.” The official then responded, “Police officer told me we have to offload all the luggage and search everything.”
Afterward, he apologized to the artist for the inconvenience, but Nicki Minaj wasn’t having it. She asked why the police didn’t search her luggage before loading it on the plane. Responding, the official revealed it was a random “check.” The man then apologized again, and a cordial Nicki Minaj responded, “Of course.” Another video captured from the singer’s Instagram live showed what transpired before the van conversation. In the clip, the police officers surrounded the Trinidadian. They told her she was under arrest before she stepped into the van. In the end, Nicki Minaj’s Amsterdam ordeal ended with a fine and the icon getting released the same day.
In the wake of Nicki Minaj’s arrest, the Anaconda crooner has opened up about the treatment she received in Amsterdam. Speaking on Stationhead, Nicki Minaj described the treatment as inhumane, adding that she wouldn’t wish it on anyone. “Not being able to get to Manchester, I don’t know the last time I felt that low,” she said.
Nicki Minaj also explained that it felt worse knowing that the officials treated her terribly on purpose because she was “a confident other race.” According to her, even when a press release went out saying she was released, she was still in police custody. “The treatment was disgusting and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” Nicki Minaj said. However, the rapper seems to have moved on from the incident. Nicki Minaj remains focused on thrilling fans with amazing performances on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
