Whether it’s Batman’s Batarang or Arya’s Needle Strike, getting hit hurts. If you’re a dodgy Assassin like Stripe or Finn you might be able to hurl yourself out of the way. Sometimes that’s not the best move, however. Sometimes it’s better to go on the attack, and that’s when parrying shines in MultiVersus. Parrying opens your opponent up for counterattack during a brief window of vulnerability. There’s no time for Fatalities here, just good old-fashioned scrapping. Against a Bruiser like Black Adam or Taz, that’s the most you can ask for. Here’s how to parry in MultiVersus.

If you’ve learned to parry in reflex-focused games like Elden Ring, you’ll find those skills transfer well to MultiVersus. A parry requires two things in WB’s cartoon brawler: a dodge and timing. The first part’s a cinch, but timing can be tricky when the Iron Giant’s metal fist is flying at your face. Here’s what you need to do to parry in MultiVersus:

  1. Wait until the last moment before your opponent’s attack strikes
  2. Press Dodge (Left Shift or L on M&K, B or RT on controller)
  3. Use the animation window to counter

Although parrying only takes a single button input, nailing the timing in the heat of battle can be rough. We recommend entering the training room and practicing against a bot to get more comfortable with the mechanics first.

Parrying Tips

Once the “Parried” icon appears to show your parry was successful, you only have a brief window to counter. Don’t waste time with charged moves. Your opponent will recover before they can land. Instead, get in a quick attack or use the opportunity to seize a better stage position. When you’re brawling with everyone from Jason Voorhees to Tom & Jerry, you need all the help you can get.

MultiVersus is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
