Sean Kingston is finally a free man—at least for the time being. The Jamaican rapper was released from jail almost two weeks after he was arrested in Fort Irwin, California. Kingston got his freedom on Wednesday morning after posting a hefty bail. However, his temporary release can be quickly snatched away if he doesn’t adhere to some conditions.
The Beautiful Girls singer paid $100,000 for bond and surrendered his passport as part of the conditions he must meet. TMZ reports Kingston was also ordered to hand over all his weapons, and his mortgage was put as collateral. In 10 days, the mortgage collateral will be filed in public records. Recall that the 34-year-old was taken into custody on May 23 after a performance at a military base. He was kept at San Bernardino County Jail before being extradited to Broward County.
Kingston’s criminal troubles began when authorities raided his Florida home in his absence. His mother, Janice Turner, was arrested on the scene. It turns out the raid was tied to a February lawsuit against Kingston. He was accused of failing to pay up a $150,000 debt for a home entertainment system. Authorities have since hit Kingston with 10 criminal charges including an alleged organized scheme to defraud several companies. His mother, on the other hand, is facing eight charges including identity theft.
Sean Kingston’s Mom Sends Message About His Release
Following his emancipation from jail, Kingston took to social media to share a message. “It’s great to be home,” he declared. “
A special thanks to God, my family, my friends, and my legal team. And I cannot forget my amazing fans. Thank you for all your love and support! I love you guys.”
The rapper’s post was immediately bombarded with comments including one from his mom who was also released on bail.
“God is in control 👏,” Turner penned. One fan wrote, “Make sure stay focused and clear it up!! You’re Blessed.” Another comment read, “Glad you back, God Got you & Family hold you down. A fourth follower remarked, “They always wanna tear down the ones who do what’s best. Never let that brake you @seankingston you are a #livinglegend.”
While it is just the start of Kingston’s legal battles, he seems to have the support of fans.
