This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

With an unexpected fire, Xbox Showcase 2024 started its engine with the gameplay/cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Treyarch has been cooking for more than two years, and now the hype for the return of the Black Ops series is on with Call of Duty‘s newest trailer setting the bars so high for its upcoming entry. Aside from seeing Adler betraying the CIA in a classic tone of CoD cinematics, the release date for Black Ops 6 is also confirmed but it’s different for PlayStation and Xbox for some reason.

The Xbox Showcase started with a Black Ops 6 trailer, but this time, we got to see in-game actual footage instead of only historical figures doing their mystery chats. The game is set after the events of Black Ops 2 flashbacks, meaning that we still get to see Frank Woods and Russell Adler return, and it is fully confirmed that Adler plays a major role in the story.

So far in the trailer and Warzone in-game teasers, he’s introduced as a mole, a betrayer to the States. But remember people, The Truth Lies. In the trailer we see Adler doing missions and leading several attacks or maybe escapes. However, there’s not a single line from him to confirm or deny his presence as a villain.

Aside from that, the new character played by Y’lan Noel from The First Purge and Insecure is showcased in the Black Ops 6 trailer. The character is not fully detailed, but his confrontation with Adler confirms the importance of his role. And to take the Black Ops 6 trailer aside for a moment, the release date of the game as the PS and Xbox stores have listed is rather confusing.

Black Ops 6 Release Date For All Platforms

  • PS5, PS4: October 17, 2024
  • Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One: October 25, 2024
  • Steam: Unknown

On PSN, we’ve got October 17, 2024, as the release date for Black Ops 6, without mentioning anything about the early access spans. On the other hand, we’ve got the Microsoft Xbox Store that lists the game to release on October 25, again, without anything in detail about the early access period. Right after the trailer though, Phill Spencer acknowledged the October 25 release date on Game Pass, meaning that it is the initial time that we get to play Black Ops 6 if we don’t pre-ordered the game.

As of writing, everything about the Steam release date of Black Ops 6 is unknown. But just like every other year, the PC version of the game shall arrive at the same time as the console. However, it remains to be seen if the beta and the early access periods for the PlayStation version of Black Ops 6 will be released earlier than Xbox and PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 25, 2024.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
