Meghan McCain wants Taylor Swift to be cautious, or her reign will be toppled. The political commentator sounded off on Swift’s chart-topping drama with singer Charli XCX. McCain also got candid about her not-so-great feelings towards Swift’s dominance in the media space.
During the latest episode of the Citizen McCain podcast, The View alum predicted a downward spiral for Swift’s career in coming years. “She has, respectfully, no place else to go but down at this point,” McCain told her co-host. She explained that the 14-time Grammy winner has reached her peak of greatness with a successful Eras tour run, her budding romance with Travis Kelce, and being named TIME Magazine’s 2023 “Person of the Year.” According to McCain, it is time for Taylor Swift to slow down.
“I do think when she’s done touring, giving us a mild break from her being in the news cycle as much as she is would be helpful for her and us as commentators.”

McCain complained about “living in this Groundhog Day,” where Swift’s name is on everyone’s lips, “and I think for her, a little bit of a beat would be good.”
Meghan McCain Think Taylor Swift Was ‘Classy’ About Charli XCX
Although McCain maintained that she wasn’t a “Swiftie,” she expressed her adoration for Swift’s talent. She called the singer an “Elvis-level” entertainer and “one of the greatest ever in American history.” Hence, she was disappointed that Swift allegedly released variants of her album to stop Charli XCX’s album from topping the charts.
“I do think if you are rounding the bases of being 35 and you are the greatest ever and there are some people coming up that could have their first No. 1 and you have the power to let them have No. 1 or not, I just don’t know how classy it is.”
McCain further expressed that Swift’s shady gesture could result in karma if she isn’t careful. “I do think that maybe, like, more focus on music and art instead of, like, putting checks on a scoreboard,” she advised.
