Funny man Eddie Murphy has some very specific plans for his family when his time comes. The Beverly Hills Cop star claims he has seriously considered how he would like to go out and hopes his family will follow his last wishes.
First, let’s clarify that Eddie Murphy doesn’t plan to leave this earth anytime soon. But when the time does come, he claims he doesn’t want his family to give him a funeral. Instead, according to an interview conducted by film journalist Kevin McCarthy, he prefers to ‘go out quietly.’
The interview was promoting his latest movie, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F., the fourth installment in the action-comedy franchise, which was released on Wednesday, July 3.
Eddie Murphy Wants His Family On Board With His Plan
During his recent Instagram interview, Eddie Murphy joked with McCarthy about several different funeral scenarios he has come up with over the years. The first one involves blasting the theme song from Beverly Hills Cop during the service. The comedian thought it would confuse and amuse his mourners. ‘That’s just a joke, ’cause I’m never having a funeral,’ Murphy stated.
‘I mean I’m gonna die like everyone else but, they have – they know not to, no funeral, no, just let me just go out quietly,’ he added.
He fathered ten children throughout Eddie Murphy’s two previous marriages, making for a large family. The former Saturday Night Live alum’s family looks like it could be growing even larger soon. That is if Eddie and his potential inlaw Martin Lawerence settle their kid’s wedding beef.
As previously reported, Eddie Murphy’s oldest son, Eric Murphy, is dating former costar and family friend Martin Lawerence’s daughter, Jasmine Lawerence. The couple has been together for some time and is expected to take the next step in their relationship soon.
Murphy claims he and Martin Lawrence are engaged in a long-running feud over who will pay for the wedding if and when the time arises. The two proud parents, of course, are only joking; at least, fans think so and look forward to the day their families unite.
For now, Eddie Murphy is putting his end-of-life plans on the back burner and is staying busy with his family and successful film career. The actor’s latest film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F., is streaming on Netflix.
