Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will have some official reviews out very soon. Although critic reviews haven’t been released yet, the general consensus is that the sequel doesn’t live up to the standards set from the first film. In no way does this mean that the movie will get negative reviews, just that it isn’t better than the first. After all, if the sequel is anything like the first, then it’ll be hard to give it a negative review. One actor from Vol. 2, Chris Sullivan, who plays Taserface, is quite certain that the second film actually outshines its predecessor.
Chris Sullivan, known for his roles as Toby in This Is Us and for Jimmy in The Drop, has recently spoken out about the next Guardians of the Galaxy film coming out on May 4, 2017. “I don’t want to make any promises, but I think it’s better than the first one. I would say it’s more fleshed out, just simply by the fact there was a first one. There’s no need to establish characters, so we get to jump right into the storylines of the main characters at a deeper level. But it’s equally funny, equally as full of amazing music, and, of course, that cast — the Guardians of the Galaxy are pretty hard to match.” All of this he said to Cinema Blend in an interview about the upcoming film.
At least Sullivan is beaming confidence about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, even though critics may not share his enthusiasm. No matter the result, any Marvel movie with a Baby Groot (this just may be the only one) has my interest–not for just that reason though. The all-star cast of Chris Pratt as Starlord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, and Vin Diesel as Groot return as the Guardians of the Galaxy; while Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin also return to reprise their roles. Chemistry is an understatement when it comes this group of actors. James Gunn returns as writer and director. New additions to the cast include Chris Sullivan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kurt Russell.
