If you were disappointed that TNT’s Teen Titans show fell through last year, we have good news. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are teaming up for a new live-action series based on the popular team of heroes. The show is called Titans (similar to Arrow) and will debut in 2018. In addition, Young Justice: Outsiders, is also scheduled for its debut next year. I’d settle for news of Teen Titans GO‘s cancellation but I’ll take what I can get. Both series’ remain in early production but we’ve waited this long so I doubt another year is gonna kill us.

Furthermore, Titans will air on an exclusive digital service for DC fans. Operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group, the new digital service will deliver an immersive experience designed just for DC fans. I’m not too keen on this idea as I would love to see a crossover with the Arrow-Verse on The CW but we’ll see what happens. They made it work for Supergirl so here’s hoping. The official synopsis is as follows.

Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

Now, most of the names attached to Titans have some serious credibility in the superhero department. Greg Berlanti did write Green Lantern but let us also remember that he helped create Arrow, The Flash & Legends Of Tomorrow. So, in my eyes, he’s more than redeemed himself. Johns and Schechter have also proven themselves to be great writers for DC. However, let’s address the bat-nipple sized elephant in the room that is Akiva Goldsman. Who is Akiva Goldsman? The writer of Batman & Robin… that’s who Akiva Goldsman is. Look, Goldsman has written some good stuff over the years (A Beautiful Mind, A Time To Kill). But he isn’t too good when it comes to DC. So let’s hope the other writers manage to keep any and all bat-nipples and bat-credit cards at bay.

Young Justice wound up canceled after its second season, despite receiving critical praise. In this highly anticipated new season, the team faces its greatest challenge yet; meta-human trafficking. Society’s caught in a genetic arms race spanning the globe and galaxy. Sounds fun to me. Really it’s the fans who should be patting themselves on the back for this show’s return. It was the passionate support of the fans over the years that led to this inevitable third season.

Sam Register will executive produce Young Justice: Outsiders with Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman producing. Phil Bourassa will serve as the series’ art director. Now, if only Greg Weisman could abandon all this and make that Gargoyles movie we all want.

Please, Mr. Weisman, Sir! Please!
