Season wipes aren’t the only thing that Once Human borrowed from Rust. Starry Studio’s post-apocalyptic survival game also includes an elaborate base-building mechanic, including water collection and filtration systems. High walls and automated turrets are great, but raids aren’t worth fending off if you don’t have anything worth stealing. Stardust Source is used for upgrading equipment and crafting munitions, making it a valuable resource to farm. Turning a drip into a deluge is easier said than done, but the Stardust flood is worth it. Here’s how to make a Stardust Water Pump work in Once Human.

The good news is you can get Stardust without running an Acid farm killing-loop. The Stardust Water Pump is a memetic specialization that turns contaminated water into Stardust Source. Before you can make a Stardust Pump work in Once Human, you’ll need to research and install some other memetics. You can unlock the Stardust Water Pump at levels 20, 25, 30, and 35 as part of the Hydro Engineer specialty, however, so there’s no big rush. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Unlock prerequisites like Rain Water Collection System, Water Storage, and Water Filters
  2. Unlock the Stardust Water Pump Specialization
  3. Craft and install a large battery near contaminated water
  4. Wire the Stardust Water Pump to your other components
  5. Work with gravity when directing the flow of water

Like other pumps and machines in the game, the Stardust Water Pump requires electricity to run. If your base isn’t already aglow, you’ll need to get a power supply operational first. There are also other ways to get Stardust as well, including Rift Anchors and Securement Silos, if you’re willing to put your Meta-Human life on the line. Nothing beats passive farming, however, especially when it spares you from a deluge of Deviants.
