Demi Lovato received so many body-shaming comments during her 2018 NYC outing, she actually wound up with the most-popular remarks defending her. Hitting up the Big Apple in March of that year, the 31-year-old signer braved plunging temperatures following the cancelation of one of her concerts, but she seemed in good spirits as she put on another stylish display.
Braving a sheer tank top and lightweight open coat as she kept glam, Demi injected casual accents into her outfit as she rocked leggings, but the finish was flawless as the former Disney star was spotted strolling around. When users on The Daily Mail hounded Demi about her weight, one fan noted the “horrible comments,” gaining likes as they pointed out that Demi is an eating disorder survivor.
Demi Lovato Shows Off Curvy Figure In NYC
Not appearing to mind the cameras, Demi sent out a confident smile as she highlighted her curvy figure in a loose-fitting black tank that was slightly see-through.
The former Disney star coordinated her top to her skintight leggings, but she threw in plenty of color from her chic, open coat, one boasting pops of green, black, turquoise, and white. Going textured with her outerwear, Demi also rocked colorful heels, completing her glam with her luscious locks worn down, plus a full face of makeup.
Flashing her hand and foot tattoos, Demi also sported a black manicure, with a hoop earring finish keeping things light.
‘Horrible’ Body-Shaming Comments
The images, published by The Daily Mail, quickly garnered replies. “Wow! She gained 30 pounds practically overnight,” one user wrote. In an equally nasty reply, another said that Lovato was “ballooning up fast.”
Demi, whose eating disorder began in childhood, has been open and honest about her battle with bulimia nervosa. The star has also been to rehab multiple times, both for her eating disorder and her substance abuse battles.
Horrified at the level of body-shaming, one user jumped in, saying:
“All the comments about her weight are horrible as she has suffered from bulimia, I also have suffered from bulimia and it is something you have to deal with every day and there are constant relapses. It is a horrible disease.”
Demi has personally stated that she wishes she’d had someone to support her when she was aged 13 and already struggling with her eating disorder. Meanwhile, 2024 sees fans commenting on Demi looking slimmer, with some even alleging that the pop sensation has been using weight loss drug Ozempic.
