Your backpack in Once Human can carry many things, but chances are you want it to carry more. After all, there’s so much useless junk that you can disassemble! There is a way to unlock a backpack expansion, but it’s pretty hit or miss. Let’s dive into how to unlock and upgrade your backpack in Once Human.

Unlocking the Backpack Expansion

The backpack expansion is a Memetic Specialization RNG choice that players have when they reach level 15. Every five levels, you’re allowed to choose one of these specializations from four randomly selected ones. The backpack expansion is unlockable, beginning at level 15. You’re allowed to reset this in exchange for a Specialization Memory Cleanse. However, the four you will be presented with are not guaranteed to include the backpack expansion.

You can always earn more Specialization Memory Cleanses as seasonal rewards, so keep an eye out for what you might need to complete to increase your chances of finding it.

Upgrading Your Backpack

If you’re lucky enough to get the backpack expansion, now is the time to craft it. To do so, use an Intermediate Workbench using these resources:

  • 15 Rubber.
  • 10 Metal Scraps.
  • 10 Raw Hide.

After you’ve gathered all the resources, hover over the backpack and hold the F key. After a few seconds, you’ll have a backpack expansion that upgrades your carrying capacity by up to 80%. Considering how many resources you can get from the drills and chainsaws, having a big backpack is an absolute necessity. Being slowed down and then killed merely because you have too many logs in your backpack is sure to be one of your biggest regrets.
